Friday the 13th
Hunter got a call from fashion show producer Jejuan Narcisse asking if we could create a short film for his Friday the 13th runway — something stylish, surreal, and just unsettling enough to feel honest. There wasn’t a script yet, just a mood. So we did what we always do: built a world from the inside out. Three characters, three emotional arcs, three ways beauty breaks and rebuilds itself.
From there, everything accelerated. Writing late at night. Sketching silhouettes. Pinning references to walls and screens and whatever empty space we could claim. We wanted each girl to feel like a different kind of denial — the type you don’t see until it’s too late.
We shot at Fort Mason’s General’s Residence, a place that feels like it holds every shadow a little too long. Two days of filming, styling, revising, arguing, fixing, undoing, and trying again. We brought in a team we trust — makeup, camera, production — and everyone showed up ready to make something bigger than the budget, bigger than the timeline, bigger than the ask.
It wasn’t flawless. Art never is. But there were moments — tiny, accidental, unforgettable moments — where the whole thing felt alive. That’s what we chase. That’s why we keep making these worlds.
